My cover is about Scout, the protagonist of To Kill a Mockingbird, looking inside the big oak tree where Boo Radley would place different objects for her and her brother, Jem, were to find inside. I also drew the objects that Boo Radley had placed inside the oak tree, and a Mocking bird. I drew Scout looking inside the tree because it depicts the curiosity of a young girl coming of age and wondering things that she wouldn't understand because she is so young. How she wonders why Boo is different or crazy. How come he was locked up for so long? Why is he doing this? Questions that affect her way of thinking. Also, this changes the way she sees people in her own town.
I also drew the objects inside the oak tree because it represents Scout coming closer to the truth of Boo Radley. How he is not crazy at all and how actually he would give his life to save anyone in need. All these objects represent the truth Scout discovers about Boo's reason for being locked up, for putting these objects inside the oak tree, and how he is actually different from the rumors in Maycomb.
The Mockingbird I drew represents the innocent people that were treated differently from the other citizens in Maycomb such as Tom Robinson. He was accused for raping a woman in which he was not guilty of. In the book, it states that it's a sin to kill a mockingbird. This is a symbolic meaning that you shouldn't harm anything or anyone that hasn't done anything wrong to you, but Maycomb County is very hypocritical because if it is a sin to kill a mocking bird, then why harm innocent people for the wrong reasons? To Kill A Mockingbird really symbolizes the racism against blacks and how they are the mockingbirds singing their songs for real equal rights.
