To Kill A Mockingbird Cover

My cover is about Scout, the protagonist of To Kill a Mockingbird, looking inside the big oak tree where Boo Radley would place different objects for her and her brother, Jem, were to find inside. I also drew the objects that Boo Radley had placed inside the oak tree, and a Mocking bird.

I drew Scout looking inside the tree because it depicts the curiosity of a young girl coming of age and wondering things that she wouldn't understand because she is so young. How she wonders why Boo is different or crazy. How come he was locked up for so long? Why is he doing this? Questions that affect her way of thinking. Also, this changes the way she sees people in her own town.

I also drew the objects inside the oak tree because it represents Scout coming closer to the truth of Boo Radley. How he is not crazy at all and how actually he would give his life to save anyone in need. All these objects represent the truth Scout discovers about Boo's reason for being locked up, for putting these objects inside the oak tree, and how he is actually different from the rumors in Maycomb.

The Mockingbird I drew represents the innocent people that were treated differently from the other citizens in Maycomb such as Tom Robinson. He was accused for raping a woman in which he was not guilty of. In the book, it states that it's a sin to kill a mockingbird. This is a symbolic meaning that you shouldn't harm anything or anyone that hasn't done anything wrong to you, but Maycomb County is very hypocritical because if it is a sin to kill a mocking bird, then why harm innocent people for the wrong reasons? To Kill A Mockingbird really symbolizes the racism against blacks and how they are the mockingbirds singing their songs for real equal rights.

The Boy and the Interminable Story

I was walking down the street to arrive home, and drink a warm cup of coffee because it was very cold outside. I was avid to go home because I wanted to be in inside a warm place where your hands are not freezing or turning purple, so I put on my jacket in a cursory manner as I was speed-walking through the street.

As I got home, an anonymous person was opening the door of Mrs. Caulfield's house. I didn't know what it was, but I squinted my eyes and try to figure out if could identify it. It was very dark and the only thing that was visible was the light pole I was standing next to. As he came outside, I noticed that he hadn't stolen anything, but I started wondering if he did something to Phoebe.

Then, I realized that he started to walk towards me, so I gingerly hid myself behind the light pole, but I was trembling in fear, wishing for him not to notice me. I heard his footstep come closer and closer, but in my mind, I thought the man had noticed me until he said something weird.

"Thank you Allie, thank you for not letting me get caught." I recognized that voice, but I still wasn't sure of who it was. As he said thank you again and again, it reverberated in my mind. After saying thank you about 20 times, I finally came to my conjecture. I walked away from the pole, and I saw this young man with a black jacket, jeans, and a backpack. I finally recognized him.

"For the love of god. It you, Holden Cau...." He covered my mouth with his cigaret smelling hand.
"Shhh, goddamn it. Don't scream my name. Mostly, who are you and how do you know me?" He took his hand away and took a fue steps back.
"I'm your neighbor, Casey Shields, do you remember?" He looked at me from top to bottom, but the only thing I noticed was his grimace on him face, not that it made a difference with his normal face.
"Oh yeah, Its been a long time since I've seen you." I knew he was lying, but I didn't mind. He seemed like an affable person compared to the last time I played with him. I remember he would pilfer my dolls and torture them as much as he could.

We sat down on a bench and we stroke up a conversation about how our lives were going . He seemed lackadaisical about it, so I changed the subject and made it concise so that he wouldn't get bored.

Spontaneously, he started to talk about his brother Allie. I think I must have said something that evoked him to talk about his brother. You could see his despondent disposition when he was talking about Allie, and how Allie wrote an anthology of poems in his baseball mitt. He stopped talking for 15 seconds, looking at the light pole. He turned around to face me and said something that almost made me fall off the bench.

"Wanna escape with me and move to the West?" He entreated me to go and he gave me an interminable story of how we were going to lives in the West. Holden had no inkling that I wasn't paying attention to him after he asked me to move West. I was still shocked because of his offer, but I didn't want to seem rude, so I pretended I was paying attention.

Holden is very audacious, but his mind is filled with impossible things. He is not so conscientious about things. He never thinks before saying things, and I know that if he asked many people the same thing, they would rebuff his offer again and again. I Didn't have a choice, so I said I couldn't go. I was trying to be polite and not hurt his feelings, but he went on a tirade about how everyone was the same and never gave a chance to anything. I got very annoyed, so I just stood up, said good night, and went home. After that night, I didn't see him again.

Holden is

Bitter, cold.
Hidden in a room

He is
a critisizer.
He notices,
he judges,
he makes it
sound bad.

He is
A piece of paper
you can't fold.
You can't
tare it,
you can't
crumple it.

He stays flat
and straight.
He doesn't change.

He is
leaving again.
This goddamn
place,
this goddamn
school.

He is
standing
on that hill.
Yes,
the Thomsen hill.

He is
right there.
Shaking, shivering, showing
no face expretion.

He is
kicked out
from school.
The fifth school,
but his parents
don't know.

He doesn't mind,
he doesn't think
it's important.
He will go
go home.
He just
doesn't care.

Eggs by Jerry Spinelli

Eggs, is a story written by Jerry Spinelli, which explains how something that you have lost can be found again with a friend that has experienced the same situation before. It is written in David, a nine year old boy, is sent to live with his grandmother after his mother died.

From the state of Minnesota, he moved to a new state in which he starts a new life. His father is the owner of a mall in Minnesota and is obligated to stay there from Monday to Friday and he only gets to see David at the weekends. After the death of David’s mother, his disposition had changed: David has never smiled again, never laughed and always has a serious face, he is never enthusiastic about events. He only has his father to be with and with the miss of his mother; he is the only person he is really close to him.

Then, David meets a girl named Primrose: aggressive, doesn’t let anyone insult her, and has moved from her mother also known as a psychic, but Primrose couldn’t stand her, so she moved to a car and made it her own room. Both these characters start a new friendship and continue their journey as David discovers new things.

This is one of the greatest books I have ever read. Jerry’s description of the characters and the plot makes you feel like you are in the story. Also, you can sense what feeling the character is going through and how you feel related to the character. This story has a great combination of comedy, hate, depression, and love at the same time. Even though the characters are different in many ways and fight a lot about things, they still become friends and still have fun. I have finally understood that even though something’s gone and you can’t see it, it’s actually kept in your heart, where it will stay forever.

My Brother

Is the symphony orchestra,

The melody in every string,

The beautiful prince Siegfried.

Apollo, the god,

Everyone would

love to take,

To keep, to love

A god,

From top

to bottom. He’s

The history book

You flip through.

The teacher

Who taught me

What was right and wrong.

The one that got caught

Once, just once,

But never did it again.

The Picasso,

That moves the paint brush

Slow and gingerly.

And creates

The path to glory.

Then looks straight,

To the horizon

And walks to the end of the earth.

The Messy List

  1. When I have a bug on my hand, if its not cute, I would find ways to torture it or find a way to make his death slow and painful.
  2. I always forget to give back the money I owe to the people(Stephanie), but its her fault that she is so nice to me!
  3. I once punched a kid when I was 3 because he would always bug me about sucking my thumb. It was really funny!
  4. When I'm really bored I grab my ereaser and cut it into little pieces or grab my white out and write my name on my binder. And if I daydream, I fall sleep.
  5. If I see one of my little cousins dolls or toys, I will grab it, play with it, and never give iot back to my cousin.
  6. I LOVE ham. If I don't see ham in the fridge, I will collapse until my mom comes home and I will tell her to go buy ham!
  7. I wish to live next to Jaye so that everyday I would go over to her house instead of talking to her in skype!
  8. I'm a disaster. My room is disorganized, my closet is full of clothes and when I take out all my shirts to see which one to put on, I leave everything there without putting things back. I'm really messy!!!.

I Don't Want to Go to School

*Beep* *Beep* *Beep* *Beep*

I try to open my eyes, but because I was still sleepy, I didn't want to. I wanted to sleep more, but I stood up because of my alarm.

I sigh and inhale again. Monday morning, school. I don't want to go, I really don’t want to go.

So I came up with a plan. I will pretend I’m sick, so that I don’t have to go, but which one should I choose: headache, stomachache, or pain on the bones. Yes, stomachache always seems to work with my mother. So with my acting skills, I made myself cry and I walked to my mom, who was already drinking her coffee and watching the news.

“Oh, darling, are you ok?” She ran to me and touched my face with her soft warm hands, but I just laugh in the inside. I tighten my stomach so that it looked like I was suffering.

“I’m not feeling well mom, but I have to go to school. When I’m going to eat breakfast just give me a pill.” I turn around and walk slower, but my mom touched my shoulder, “Do you have a test today?” I shook my head, and my mind was excited to hear what she was going to say next.

“Sleep on my bed and stay there today, ok?” Jackpot! I laid on her bed and she cover me with the bed sheets. I close my eyes, and then it all just went black.

I wake up again and I see the sun up in the sky. It was ten-thirty-five and I went down to eat breakfast. The rest of the day, I didn’t do anything at all and stayed home with no one to talk to. Yes, it would’ve been better to go to school.

After that day I realized that should not go to school when I’m SERIOUSLY sick, not because I didn’t feel like it. Yes, people, school is better than staying home!
